Maitland Art and History Museum Maitland, Florida

A National Historic Monument, Maitland Art and History Museum comprises two campuses of historic buildings which currently house an art gallery, studios for visiting artists and local history museums.  Dix.Hite developed a master signage and wayfinding plan to help visitors navigate the various spaces and identify the six museums. The design is simple, yet bold, and celebrates a pattern found in the historic architecture. The color-coded building monument markers placed strategically around the campus help visitors find buildings throughout the site. The Maitland Art Center's campus is a designated National Historic Site, so each building is a protected structure. Paver signs were utilized in some areas to protect views and prevent signs from being affixed directly to the historic buildings.
