Our People

It’s been said that who and what we surround ourselves with is who and what we become. So, we’ve cultivated a team of dedicated and creative individuals who are passionate about our purpose of designing for life.

We firmly believe great people are what lead companies to greatness, and we take pride in having an office culture that fosters employee growth, happiness and success.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Through our work, we strive to support the communities that we serve. One way that we do that is by constantly pushing ourselves to be an inclusive, equitable, and diverse place of work. Through listening to each other, understanding our differences, and working towards common goals, we are able to shine in our communities.

At work, we aspire to maintain a culture of openness and flexibility where our team members feel valued and are comfortable voicing their opinions. We know that our strength comes from our differences, and as landscape architects, we benefit every day from our diverse set of experiences, backgrounds, and skillsets.

Core Values

Just as we Design For Life in our communities, our culture is designed around bettering life at work. We strengthen our work experiences by leading projects with our core values as our guide: empowerment, passion, integrity, creativity, and collaboration. Our goal is to be a world-class firm, where our employees, clients, and places are the foundation of all we do.

Whether in the office or out in the community, our core values are our cultural cornerstones. Everything we do and work toward is reflective of the following guiding principles:

Empowerment

Passion

Integrity

Creativity

Collaboration

Embracing the ESOP Way

In July 2022, Dix.Hite embarked on a transformative journey, transitioning from private ownership to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) model. This move has not only empowered our employees, but has also set the stage for an exciting future ahead.

At Dix.Hite, our ESOP model means that every individual puts their heart and soul into every project. It's about more than just work; it's about ownership and commitment. Through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan, our dedicated team earns a stake in the company's success, ensuring that when Dix.Hite thrives, our employees reap the rewards.

Where will we go from here? Let’s find out together.

Our Offices

Orlando, FL

The Orlando campus is located in Historic Longwood within a very short walk of the region’s commuter rail station, City Hall and the Dix.Hite-designed Reiter Park. Our campus includes two buildings: “The Barn,” which was built in the early 1980’s, and “The Bungalow” a 1920’s craftsman bungalow which we restored according to National Historic District Guidelines. Our space reflects our mission to design for life, as we have connected the buildings with a Florida-friendly, 90-percent native, drought-tolerant landscape, a low-volume irrigation system and pervious mulch parking, which combine to create an environment that fosters collaboration and creates a sense of place. With sustainable water practices in place, the bungalow was a commercial pilot project for the Florida Water Star conservation program.

Birmingham, AL

The Birmingham studio is in Five Points South, one of Birmingham’s first streetcar suburbs. Rich with landmark houses, churches, apartments and commercial buildings, Five Points South is among the city’s finest and most distinguished architectural and historical resources. Both the downtown skyline and Vulcan (the world’s largest cast-iron statue) atop Red Mountain are visible from the studio on the second floor of the historic Garber-Houghton House, an adaptive reuse of the attorney general’s 1911 home.

We Are Always Looking For Great Talent.

Landscape architects, designers, and associated professionals of all experience levels who solve problems and aim to create a sense of place will always be of interest to us. Give us a call, or send your portfolio to grow@dixhite.com. We look forward to learning more about you.
