Dix.Hite + Partners: Designing for Life
Purveyors of fine design. Connecting people to place. These are just some of the ways we’ve chosen to describe who we are as a firm over the past 25 years. And like any company, these descriptions have grown and evolved right along with us.
First, we called ourselves “purveyors of fine design,” which illustrated the incredible amount of thought and attention that goes into our plans. Then came “connecting people to place,” which described how we invest time into the communities we work in, get to know a site on an intimate level, and strive to bring out the best in both. But still, we felt that what we do is a little more transcendent, a little more all-encompassing.
Enter: Designing for Life. Three little words that describe what we do, simply, succinctly and elegantly. But what exactly does it mean? Let’s dive in a little deeper.
Designing for life experiences.
We design spaces for both big experiences and small moments to happen, whether it’s playing with your children at a playground, reading a book in the sunshine, relaxing by the pool, or having a picnic with friends. Keeping a space’s end users top of mind, we design accessible, enjoyable spaces that activate the community.
Designing for life to thrive.
Our designs preserve the integrity of the land, as well as the native flora and fauna that exists there. From protecting ecosystems and enhancing habitats, to incorporating native plants and using sustainable materials, we put emphasis on preserving the natural world and actively work to harness the spirit of the land.
Designing spaces to last for life.
We aim to create spaces that will stand the test of time through designs that are holistic, intentional and enduring. Beyond trends and across generations, our work is built to last. For life.
Designing for life as professionals.
Landscape architects are, quite literally, designers for life. Regardless of your job title or how long you spend working at a firm, our profession is one that changes the way you view the world around you.
Designing for an empowering life.
Our firm has a legacy of empowerment, both in terms of company culture and as a design element. We encourage our employees to pursue their passions and establish policies that protect and empower our staff. We also work on projects like SunRail, which empowers people with limited transportation (and those who want to explore alternate options) to fully live their lives.
